The Vancouver Women’s Caucus History Project’s aim is to investigate, record and document the history (by the women who created it) of one of the earliest women’s liberation groups in Canada. “Women’s Caucus” is well-known for initiating the abortion caravan and shutting down Parliament for the first time in Canadian history, but equally significant was its socialist bent, seeking radical change for working women and hosting a peace conference with Indo-Chinese women.

Our goal is to collect all available original material, conduct interviews, and assessing our work from today’s viewpoint. We then plan to make that history widely available to the public, particularly young women, and to scholars through this comprehensive website that informs and, we hope, inspires others in defining a feminism today that continues to improve the status of women in society.
